TOPIC- REVIEW PETITION OF ZA BHUTTO CASE

SASSI PLEJO OF PPPP said that CJ attitude towards review petition of ZA Bhutto is very positive. She said that it is historical moment in the history of the judiciary. She said that she was glad to hear CJ reading a paragraph of ZA Bhutto's book in the court. She said that proper judicial procedure was not followed in the case against ZA Bhutto. She said that Molvi Mushtaq was the judge in ZA Bhutto case who was very fawning to General Zia ul Haq. She said that the only motive to proceed against ZA Bhutto was to kill him. She said that there has been lot of progress made on Benazir Bhutto murder and soon her case will be in the court of justice. She said that review petition of ZA Bhutto is a very serious matter. She said that SC is going to form a larger bench to adjudicate the review petition. She said that ZA Bhutto used to spend 23 hours in his jail cell and was kept in dark on the proceedings in the court against him. She said that People's Party does not want retrial of ZA Bhutto but justice in his case. She said that review petition of ZA Bhutto is an opportunity for SC to clear the stain of injustice on its face.
IQBAL ZAFAR JHAGRRA OF PML (N) said that ZA Bhutto was a great leader and there are so many apprehensions shown on SC decision against him from day one. He said that it is good thing that People's Party has filed a review petition in the SC on this case. He said that there is one point of view on review petition that this case has been filed to put the pressure on SC. He said that Benazir Bhutto murder case should have been priority of the government instead of review petition of ZA Bhutto case. He said that what ever will be the out come of ZA Bhutto review petition People's Party should be ready to accept it.
JUSTICE (R) SHAIQ USMANI said that if there is any possibility of retrial in criminal law of Pakistan then SC will allow the case of ZA Bhutto. He said that as for he understands the law there is no room for retrial of ZA Bhutto case in SC. He said that SC can only suggest to the parliament to amend the law for retrial. He said that then the law of retrial of the case will be for every body not for just ZA Bhutto. He said that in that case many retrial cases will be filed in the courts. He said that review petition of ZA Bhutto is a legal issue not the sentimental one. He said that in case SC denies the retrial of ZA Bhutto there will be an ominous political stir in the country.
