| Clean Drinking Water Project: Sa'd ibn Ubadah asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), "Umm Sa'd (his mother) has died; what form of Sadaqah (charity) is best?" He (pbuh) replied: "Water (is best)." Sa'd dug a well and said: "It is for Umm Sa'd." (Abu-Dawood, Book 9, No. 1677) Under the Clean Drinking Water Project, Hidaya Foundation (www.hidaya.org) installs water hand pumps in deep rural areas, distributes water in large 1,200 gallon tankers to populations without water and installs deep wells. For the last couple of years, Hidaya has installed approximately 500 water hand pumps each year. Each water hand pump costs $200. Also, Hidaya delivered approximately 4,800 gallons of clean drinking water daily to the poor. Each 1,200 gallon tanker costs just $10 to deliver water which benefits over 100 families.
