NADEEM MALIK Gen. James L. Jones, the national security adviser, and Leon E. Panetta, the C.I.A. director, were set to leave Washington on Monday night, in the highest-level American visit to Pakistan, the authorities say, since Faisal Shahzad, a naturalized Pakistani immigrant, drove a crude car bomb into Times Square on May 1.

The national security adviser and the C.I.A. director will ask leaders to intensify their part of the Times Square investigation.
NADEEM MALIK Pakistan had the highest number of internally displaced people in 2009 because of the Taliban insurgency and the country's military response, a United Nations study showed on Monday. Some 3 million Pakistanis were displaced last year, out of a population of 170 million. That was three times more than the second-place c...ountry, the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to the study. The number of internally displaced people worldwide reached 27.1 million in 2009, the highest since records began in the mid-1990s.

NADEEM MALIK COURT CONVICTS, ZARDARI PARDONS ALL GUILTS
LAHORE: A special division bench of the Lahore High Court on Monday dismissed Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik's appeals against his three-year convictions each in absentia, awarded by an accountability court in two separate references.
The court ruled that the accused "is to be arrested in the light of the Supreme Court judgment against the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO)."
The bench, comprising Chief Justice Khwaja Muhammad Sharif and Justice Waqar Hassan Mir, further ruled that one could seek protection of the court if he surrenders himself to the court of law. But in the current case, there was longstanding abscondence by Rehman Malik, and he deliberately avoided service of courts. Furthermore, his arrest warrants, issued by the National Accountability Bureau chairman, are still valid and enforceable;therefore, the accused is to be arrested to execute the warrants.
